Tavis Smiley Show

Posted by on Monday, 19 April, 2010

Last week I was also interviewed for the Tavis Smiley syndicated radio show. pho

He did an Earth Day special that aired over the weekend & i was in GOOD company… Van Jones, Lisa Jackson from the EPA, Lance Williams, Bill Nye – & many more! I talked about ECHS, GreenMyParents, Rise Above Plastics, and the Race to the Top Challenge.

Here is the link to hear it.. i missed it when it played Saturday, but someone found me on Twitter said thanks for sharing my story.. then Tavis Smiley himself tweeted about me :)   I am posting it on here without hearing it myself. There’s something about listening/watching myself speak that I can’t bare.

OMGGG! – i’m right after Van Jones :) :) :) :) :)

Rising Above Plastics at Google!

Posted by on Tuesday, 25 August, 2009

DSC00592Omg! I gave a Rise Above Plastics presentation to Google along with Matt Dang & Rudy. I’ll say more about Rise Above Plastics in another post(it deserves that much) but it was soooo cool going to Google and presenting to about 15 people there. After we presented we ate lunch at thier WONDERFUL, AMAZING, BOMB buffet. I mean I thought we were just giving the presentation at a normal office, but Google is magical place, I swear I can’t even describe it. So after we ate we were given a tour of the place. Before we got out of the elevator Chris, who works for Google, tells us “make sure your really quiet and please don’t take pictures”. I thought we were going inside of some top secret super duper professional place. We hit a corner, and theres gumball machines, m&m machines, 5 other candy machines,  $2,000 cup of coffee expresso(for free), and a big pool table. I didn’t think the “office” could get any more fun until Chris pulls out an electric scooter and starts riding it around. It was cool seeing how much fun work could be, I would so work for Google if I had a passion for that stuff. It was pretty tight seeing why Gmail and Google Chat was so up to par , it’s because they promote play at work, it keeps the employees not as stressed and the Candyland ambiance makes everyone feel so better. Aside all the cool Google perks, it was great having the oppurtunity to inspire Google to rise above one-time consumable plastics! Google was also pretty green. The cafeteria used to serve food on disposaable plateware each day for lunch, now, they use real plates and silverware. They had to invest in a dishwasher, but not having to buy flatware over and over eventually saves moolah! They also compost
