MH_pool_600Green Prom

I wanted to end my senior year with a bang. I am leading the Prom Committee of Student Council in planning a 180% environmentally conscious prom. What does that mean? Well think… what all do you need/do at a party? All that just in a sustainable way. My friends & I are renting our prom dress, eco-nail shop, makeup, 30 of us are riding in a party bus to the prom. We are having it at the Marrakesh house, a LEED certified Moroccan theme mansion in the Culver City hills that runs on solar energy & much more! The food will be all organic and local.

Rise Above Plastics

Rise Above Plastics or R.A.P. is a student speaker series in partnership with the Green Ambassadors & Surfrider Foundation. Lindsey Jurca & I created this student speaker series in order to not only educate high school teens about the harms of plastics on the environment & to humans, but to empower them to share the message and travel to  schools and businesses across Los Angeles, educating people of all ages. So far, R.A.P. has presented to over 8,000 & trained 15 students to give the presentation around Pasadena. Looking for a presentation or training for your school or business? I am one of the editors of the book GreenMyParents . GMP is a nationwide program that trains kids on how to teach their parents to save money by living sustainably. The goal of GreenMyParents is to have 1 Million kids nationwide save $100(or more) for thier families by April 22, 2011. Each GMP Champion will train 100, those hundred will tell 100, and thats already $10,000. The majority of the recruiting will be on Facebook, Twitter, Blog sites… using social networking not as toys, but to spark economic & social change. I’m really excited to be apart of GreenMyParents, many people find themselves not able to relate to sustainability – well here’s a way! Who doesn’t like saving money? Stay tuned for more!
