President Obama’s Race to the Top Commencement Challenge – 2010

At the end of February 2010, I heard about the Race to the Top Commencement Challenge – President Obama was holding a contest for high schools across the nation that are model schools based on academic excellence, college & career readiness. I sent the rules and links to the administration, found 4 friends to help with the video submission & essay… then 1 month later the White House called & we were one of the SIX finalists. Unfortunately, we did not win, but we learned that it wasn’t about OUR graduation it was about the future of education & showing the world that environmental education is doing what all schools should do – empower their students! This was the film we made with Get Schooled & The White House.
