Venus & Serena Williams Switch to Raw Vegan Diets

Posted by on Sunday, 1 January, 2012

After dropping out of the U.S. Open last summer, Venus Williams revealed that she had been diagnosed with an incurable disease of the immune system, Sjogren’s Syndrome. The disease has impacted her health and career and Serena Williams is sticking by her side to fight the disease. Venus is now exploring holistic ways to treat her symptoms, in fear of mainstream treatments causing other health problems. Both sisters are taking yoga classes, acupuncture treatment, and even adapting a raw food vegan diet together.

A raw food vegan diet consists of unprocessed, raw plant foods that have not been heated above 40 degrees Celsius or 104 Fahrenheit. Raw vegans believe that foods cooked above this temperature have lost much their nutritional value and are less healthful or even harmful to the body. Heating the foods kills the natural enzymes and can leave toxins behind. Raw food advocates argue that raw or living foods have natural enzymes that are critical in building proteins and rebuilding the body.

I’ve ate a raw vegan meal before at a pretty dope place in San Francisco and Los Angeles, CA, called Cafe Gratitude. It was interesting. Very different. I did however feel great after eating my raw avocado rice bowl. Rather than being sleepy, or feeling stuffed, I was energized. Try it. Which ever diet or label you decide to incorporate always remember, #Eat2Live.

House of Marley Headphones

Posted by on Tuesday, 15 February, 2011

The Beats by Dre with a purpose. House of Marley is a line of fashion, electronics, kitchenware, aromatherapy and more founded by Bob Marley’s children. Bob Marley was a man of love, passion, and responsibility and House of Marley keeps Bob Marley’s vision alive by turning his principles into products. All of his headphone are equipped with high quality speakers, but also made with sustainable materials such as hemp, recycled aluminum, recycled plastics, and FSC wood (forest stewardship council). FSC certified is one of the highest forest certification that ensures that all wood cut from an FSC forest is ethical and replenishes quickly. I am pre-ordering my pair of “Beats by Marley” this week!
